Book Give-a-Way Remnant: an Anthology (ends 3-12 @ midnight)

One of my all-time favorite TV series was the Outer Limits.  Roland Allnach's anthology of novellas reminds me a lot of that series.  Both contain complex characters struggling with difficult morale dilemmas and a little bit of sci-fi thrown in for good measure.

The book contains three novellas:

All the Fallen Angels, tells the story of Stohko,  a convicted inter-stellar war criminal.  He is trying to come to terms with his crimes while trying to figure out if he might be the victim of a government mind-control experiment.

Enemy, I know You Not is set in the the middle of an large war in space.  When new recruits enter a training simulator, their minds are locked in and they are unable to return to reality.  One of them is traitor and they are unsure of who to trust.

In Remant Remnant a plague has killed all but a few handful of the earth's population.  One man struggles with staying in self-imposed isolation and joining with the other "remnants" of society.

I enjoyed all three very much and I definitely wanted to keep turning the pages to read what would happen.  They are the types of stories that make you think about complicated morale dilemmas and question your own personal ethics. These are my type of books.

If you like speculative/ science fiction then you would enjoy this book.  I give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

  1. Cool! The best book I've read recently is My Name is Mary Sutter, definetly a world apart from this book, but an interesting read. Sci-Fi isn't my favorite genre, but I like reading books that make you think and want to keep turning the page.

  4. I just read "The Host" by Stephanie Meyer. It is definitely NOT a vampire novel. It took me awhile to get into, but about a third of the way in I couldn't put it down. It is very sci-fi (which I love), so I am very interested in the giveaway. My husband and I are always looking for a new author/good read.
