My mother doesn't need any more nick-nacks or body lotion and my boy's hair would even embarrass Jusitin Bieber, so I can't give her pictures. I wanted a fun way to tell my mom that she's my hero for Mother's Day, and so I made her a Supermom Apron.
I basically used the same idea as my ombre sweetheart apron. I folded the fabric in half and used a circle to make the sweetheart neckline. Cut 2.
Using my Superman font, I made a pattern and cut out the emblem. I appliqued it on the apron.(more on applique here)I folded 4 inch wide stripes in half then sewed the sides together to make the straps. I pined them to the apron. Then I placed the other on top (right sides together) and sewed them together. Leave the bottom open. Clip curves. Turn right-side out and press. Top stitch (I used gold thread).
Cut yourself a waistband. ( I used 4 inch piece folded in half). You can use interfacing if your fabric is thin-I did.
Hem the red fabric and gather the top edge. (If I did it again, I'd make the skirt a little wider)
Finally, sew the skirt to the top and the belt on top. Either use ribbon or fabric sashes to make the ties.
Here I am in my supermom glory.
(I changed out of my sweats and put on make-up for no other reason than to take this picture. I however, go for any excuse to wear my red boots)
Brassy Apple suggested using a "T" and making it for teachers-genius!
