Just plain weird or awesome? My mantle

I've seen so many V-day trees, and I wanted one too.
I cut 1/2 wide strips of paper into 6, 9 and 12 inches.
Then I folded each strip in the middle and threaded a very thin wire through the middle, and a bead on the bottom.
 Starting with the smallest strip, I glued the top to each strip to form a heart. Then I twisted the bottom of the wire around a pencil and the top wire into a heart shape.
 Here it is hanging out on my fireplace.

 I wanted to do some sort of banner, but then I thought that I would apply the vinyl directly to the mantle.  The girls in the house thought it was very cool and fun.  The boys (including my husband) thought it was just plain weird and that I should take it down immediately. Thoughts?

    I think it is cool, and you could change the quote as you wanted. I wish I had a spot like that!

    Truth, love the heart shapes,bushier branches would perhaps take away what
    you are seeing as weird.

    I love it... but, I too, am a "girl"- perhaps you need to be "male" to think it's weird :)

    I love your tree with the hearts. The first time I put vinyl on the wall it almost killed my boyfriend, he thought it was permanent and would never come off!
