I needed a desk that I could use for sewing and the computer. I couldn't find anything ready made that would work. My dad said he'd help me build one and this is what we came up with:
I wanted to use the cheap milk-crates that I bought at Wal-Mart for storage. I also wanted a space to put papers and other office-type stuff. This one will be perfect!
Here's some measurements if you want to make your own.
This was my last major project to complete on the craft room. Now I just need to clean and organize everything (at least long enough to take a picture).
I wish my craft room looked like that :)
ReplyDeleteLove it!
Me too (what is not pictured is the piles of projects I have everywhere)
DeleteI'm very jealous of your desk! I need one similar, but haven't yet! This is much needed inspiration for me:)
ReplyDeleteHope you find what you're looking for:)
DeleteThat looks great! I would love to show you a picture of my "desk" that has my sewing machine and a MOUNTAIN of finished and unfinished projects on top of and under it....Way to come up with a solution! I love it.
ReplyDelete"mountains of stuff" not pictured:) Although I have grad plans to get organized.
DeleteLooks great! Does it overhang on the front so your knees don't hit? I think it does... ! Great storage! And it always looks neat and tidy because the stuff is in boxes, perfect. Janelle @ Emmaline
ReplyDeleteIt does overhang. I am still working on the "everything looking neat and tidy" part:)
DeleteVery impressive! Great idea to build your own when a store bought just won't do! Love it, thanks for linking at tip toe thru tuesday!

Thanks, I'm thrilled it's finished. Now on to the organizing part.
DeleteWhat a great desk with so much storage. So much organization. Thanks for sharing at DIYbyDesign.
ReplyDeleteReally cute idea! I just might copy it!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a designated craft room! You and your dad did a fabulous job! Hopped over from DIY Dreamer and I'm happy to be your newest follower. Would love for you to stop by for a visit. Blessings ~ Judy @ www.vintagestreetdesigns.com
ReplyDeleteSuch a great craft room! I love how much storage is in that desk.
ReplyDeletegreat desk - love all the storage and your bins!
ReplyDeleteGood job! Love the milk crates
ReplyDeleteThat is a great desk. I love all the storage it provides with the crates underneath.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new desk!!! The bins under it are great too!!
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm looking into buying a sewing machine any tips as to what I should look for?
Thanks for sharing this at The DIY Dreamer.. From Dream To Reality!!
I love, love my Bernina. I'm a complete cheap skate, but I'm glad I didn't get a cheaper one that frustrated me. I just have their basic machine, but after 16 years I have no complaints. I would suggest visiting a few shops and taking some for a test run to see what you like.
DeleteAlso, when I bought both my machine and serger, they came w/ free classes.
DeleteLooks fantastic! Awesome job!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to this week's Catch a Glimpse party! I'll be featuring this tomorrow!
Hooray! The post will be proudly sporting you button:)
DeleteI love it! I need to give my office/craft room a makeover...it's not working the way I need it to right now. You've inspired me!
ReplyDeleteYou have quite a unique computer table there. But do you feel comfortable when browsing the computer? There are many boxes underneath, and these might hamper your movement. I think it would be better to leave a space under the computer so you can make room for the chair.
