Sweater Week- Day 3

BEFORE

This has been one of my daughter's favorite sweaters for years.  I can't remember how long she's had it, but it's a size 8 and she's almost 14.  Sadly, it just didn't fit right anymore (baggie and tight at the same time) and so we decided to fix it up.

First, I cut the sleeves off.
Then I serged the sleeve edge, tucked in under and hemmed it.  I did it first by hand, so all the ribs would line up and then by machine, so it would hold up in the wash.
Next, I cut out some strips of fabric, serged all the raw edges and made a pleated ruffle.  Finally, I sewed the ruffle to the sweater. Tadaa!
The sleeves got a little stretched out and kind off flare out now-I'm not sure how or why, but I like it.

I link up with these fabulous parties, here and here.
